Born December 31, 1769, at Douai, died in Paris, November 28, 1840.

In 1782, Swiss soldier in the regiment of Reinach.

Brigadier General in 1809, Baron of the Empire in 1810,

Major General in 1813, commanding a division of Young Guard April 22, 1815, he became a count and peer of France June 2, 1815.

Sentenced to death in 1816, returned to France and pardoned in 1821, he was made a Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor in 1836.

Included in the will of Napoleon 1st, wounded many times in battle, his name is inscribed on the Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile.
