UAVs or drones have become valuable tools for fighting large-scale fires.

This tool, which costs only a modest amount compared to the annual budget of the Department  and Rescue Service, provides a better understanding of the devastation and, above all, the spread of the fire, in order to adjust the operational response.

The fields of application are not limited to buildings, but concern any intervention in large-scale disasters. Because the UAV provides an overview. In the event of fires or floods over large areas, it provides valuable assistance, enabling the Commander of Rescue Operations (COS) to have an overview of the situation and to know which manoeuvres to implement very quickly. This provides a real-time map and makes it possible to understand what is at stake in an intervention.

In addition to flying over the fires, it enables to detect pollution, to search for victims thanks to its thermal camera and also enables the recognition of a high-risk environment in order to avoid human exposure.
