Empire General Boyeldieu

He enlisted as a lieutenant in a battalion of volunteers in 1791.
Lieutenant in 1792, captain in 1794, he made the Egyptian campaign and participated notably in the Battle of the Pyramids (July 23, 1798, to Embabeh, a suburb of Cairo). Boyeldieu fight in the army of the North and the Rhine until 1796. Passed in the Italian army, he followed Napoleon Bonaparte with his brigade in Egypt.
He fought in the battles of Shebreis and the Pyramids, following the army in Seide, and takes part in all the battles that his brigade book Murad Bey. He fought the Turks and was wounded in the capture of the fort of Aboukir.
On July 11, 1802 The emperor appointed him commander of the Legion of Honor, and in 1803 baron of the Empire.
During the Russian campaign, Louis Léger Boyeldieu, was seriously wounded in the left shoulder. Napoleon 1st give him on September 7, 1813 the rank of major general.
After the abdication, he became a Knight of the Royal and Military Order of St.Louis on July 29 1814. During the Hundred Days, he was appointed commandant of the city of Toulon but very weakened by his injuries, can take his post and died a few weeks later.
His name is inscribed on the east pillar, column 12, of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
